Co-Payment

A cost-sharing arrangement under a health plan in which the participant pays a specified charge for a specified service, usually at the time of service. Co-Payment differs from co-insurance in that a co-payment is expressed as a specific dollar amount, while coinsurance is a percentage of the cost of the service.
