Test Pilot Job Description

Description: Tests experimental aircraft and spacecraft in flight to evaluate their performance, stability, and control under various flight conditions. Analyzes how sophisticated avionics, propulsion systems, flight control systems, and other crucial components work together. Protects self, the aircraft, and ground personnel during flight testing, identifies potential dangers, and takes steps to mitigate them. Collects and studies data using sensors and equipment to reveal insightful information. Collaborates with engineers and designers to improve the designs of airplanes and spacecraft using data from actual test projects. Maintains thorough records of all flight testing, including logs of all flights, performance information, and incident reports. Supports staff with direction and training. Ensures safety rules and regulations are followed throughout the testing procedure.
