  • Performs initial and ongoing assessments of orientation and mobility skills for individuals with visual impairments.
  • Assesses the current skill level of clients and identifies their specific mobility goals and objectives.
  • Determines and communicates the extent of training required for clients to achieve their mobility goals.
  • Creates individualized lesson plans to address unique needs.
  • Keeps progress records, tracks improvements, and records milestones.
  • Trains and instructs clients on orientation and mobility techniques, such as using mobility devices and traveling safely in indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Assists clients in developing and improving balance and coordination skills.
  • Ensures that visually impaired individuals can travel safely, confidently, and efficiently and encourages independence in clients.
  • Works with organizations to advocate for the needs and rights of people with visual impairments and to present seminars within the community that educate the public about individuals with visual impairments.
