  • I forgot my user name and password. How can I get it?

    If you forgot or want to change your user name or password, please call customer service at 1-800-627-3697.

  • How long does each course take?

    Each online course takes approximately 1-2 hours to complete. You can start and stop a course at will. To return to the page you left off on, just log in to the course, then click on Page Index in the left-hand navigation.

  • How do I start taking courses?
    • If you are buying a block of courses to take for credit, just select the appropriate button, enroll if you have not already done so, and confirm your purchase. You may begin taking the courses and exams you have ordered immediately by going to your Training History and selecting a course or by going to the course list on the DLC Home Page and selecting a course Start Course button.
    • If you only want to read through course content for free and do not want to take exams for credit, select the Start Course button. If you have not already done so, you may need to enroll.
  • What are the computer system requirements for DLC online courses?

    Minimum hardware and software requirements are:

    Browser Internet Explorer 9 or later, Windows Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, or Apple Safari are recommended.
    Internet connection DSL, cable or dial-up Internet access is required for you to take this course and complete any interactive exercises.
    PDF The Adobe Reader is required for viewing the Interactive Exercises that are included in many DLC online courses. Click on Instructions in the left-hand toolbar of each course to find out if this or any other software is required. 
  • I can't advance through the course. How do I get to the next page?

    In order to advance through the course, you will need to either click on the Next button at the bottom of the course page OR correctly answer a memory jogger question.

    Memory joggers: When you select an answer and click the Submit Answer button, a pop-up box should appear. If you did not answer the question correctly this box will tell you why and ask you to review the text, then try again. If you answered correctly, the pop-up box will have a Continue button that you can select to advance to the next page.

  • How can I quickly return to a specific course page?

    Click the Page Index link in the left-hand course navigation. The page that opens has links to all the pages in the course allowing you to jump to any page so you can easily return to review specific course material at a later date.

  • How can I print out a course?

    While Distance Learning Center courses were designed to be taken online, you may print them out page-by-page. The easiest way to do this is to copy the page into a Word document and print it. In order to comply with accrediting organizations, we cannot provide a way to print an entire course at once.

  • Where can I earn my original PHR, SPHR, GPHR, aPHR, or SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification?

    To learn more about earning your PHR, SPHR, GPHR, or aPHR certification, please visit the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) website. To learn more about earning your SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification, please visit the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) website.

  • How do I take a final exam?

    Before taking a final exam and receiving a certificate, you must complete all course material.

    Once you have read each page and correctly answered every memory jogger, click on the Begin Final Exam button at the end of a course or the Final Exam link in the left-hand navigation. This will open up a page where you can select a credit type and your location. If the desired credit type is available for your location, you will be taken to the final exam. You may retake the final exam as many times as necessary in order to pass.

    Note: All Distance Learning Center online courses are accredited for HRCI, SHRM and WorldatWork certifications.

  • What score do I need to get to pass a final exam?

    Different credit types have different passing score requirements.

    • CBP/CCP/GRP/WLCP: 80% or 8 out of 10 questions
    • PHR/SPHR/GPHR/aPHR: 80% or 8 out of 10 questions
    • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP: 80% or 8 out of 10 questions
    • CAC: 80% or 8 out of 10 questions
    • CCC: 70% or 7 out of 10 questions
    • CPE QAS Self Study: 70% or 7 out of 10 questions or 14 out of 20

      California only, 90% or 9 out of 10 questions or 18 out of 20.

  • How many times may I take a final exam in order to pass?

    You may take the final exam as many times as necessary in order to pass. There is no charge for retaking exams.

  • How can I view my certificate?

    For courses, once you have passed the final exam, you may access your certificate by selecting the Training History link. To receive a certificate, you must pass the final exam. You may retake the final exam as many times as needed to pass.

    For webinars, once you have completed a webinar, you may access your certificate by going to your Training History and selecting the Request Certificate button.

  • Are the Interactive Exercises and Your Turn Exercises required?

    The Interactive Exercises and Your Turn Exercises are not required. They are provided as a practical, problem solving element in some of the courses but none of the material is included in the course exam.
