Overview | This course compares three occupational classification systems: the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT), O*NET and ERI’s enhanced Dictionary of Occupational Titles (eDOT). We look at their similarities and differences by examining data sources, how data is collected, and the job descriptors they use. We also explain which is preferable for use in vocational rehabilitation, career counseling, compensation management, disability determinations, and U.S. Social Security applications. There is a demonstration of a disability determination tool. Finally, we look at how these systems may or may not hold up under court challenge. |
