Term: Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT)

Definition:Created by the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration, the DOT has been used for its thousands of occupational definitions to match job seekers to jobs. It was last updated in 1991 (4th edition) and has now been replaced by the O*NET which classifies jobs in job families, making it less useful for determining disability eligibility or job-specific benefits analysis.
