The home country vacation and holiday schedule is a starting point in developing this benefit for expatriates. In addition, there are usually official holidays in the host country that are observed as well.
Holidays differ in timing and number in each country. Typically, international assignees follow the host country's official holiday schedules while on assignment. These holidays are usually established by law and must be paid holidays.

The amount of time is typically determined by company policy and may or may not coincide with the expatriate's earned vacation time.
