When determining competitive incentive levels, new economy organizations often use labor market rate information. One source is ERI's Salary Assessor® tool, which provides incentive levels for more than 16,500 job titles in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. ERI's Salary Assessor allows you to determine competitive incentive rates based upon employee performance and experience.

How to Retrieve Market Rate Incentive Levels
Access a Salary Assessor demo from the Instructions page of this course.
Select a job. With the Job Report tab selected, on the left, display the Browse Jobs box by pressing the Job Title Browse button. Find the desired job by scrolling through the menu or typing the job title you are looking for in the Search field. With the desired position highlighted in the list, select the OK button.

Adjust the organization data. Also, on the left, make selections for:

  • Area
  • Industry
  • Organization size
  • Salary planning date
  • Annualized Salary Trend
  • Education
  • Skills
  • Certification
  • Shift Work

Adjust the employee's experience level. Once you are back to the main screen, select the Years of Experience link. The Change Years of Experience box opens. Enter the employee's years of experience, then select the OK button.

Adjust the employee’s performance level. Select the Percentiles link to choose a low percentile (30th) and then choose a high percentile (80th). For median performance, select Median in the Average dropdown and select the OK button.
Find incentive rates. Select Incentives in the Compensation Type dropdown.
