Quantity Surveyor Job Description

Description: Oversees and monitors the finances and contractual relationships for a construction project. Partners with construction managers to establish a project budget. Estimates and calculates the quantity and costs of materials and labor needed to complete construction projects. Forecasts maintenance costs for the built facility. Reports on financial and project risks. Monitors the progress of construction and controls expenditures to remain within the project budget. Analyzes quotations from contractors and provides advice to managers. Selects contractors and negotiates payments with contractors and vendors. Reviews construction design plans and visits sites to take measurements. Works with clients and other construction professionals on a construction project.
