Land Planner Job Description

Description: Designs and plans the development of land for parks, recreational and industrial facilities, airports, hospitals, schools, subdivisions, and commercial sites. Confers with clients, engineering personnel, and architects on land planning activities. Collects and analyzes environmental data such as land features and the location of structures on land for commercial, industrial, or civil use. Prepares and presents environmental impact reports and land development plans. Assists with the development and design of policy and project recommendations. Contributes to the development of the project description and obtains permits and clearances for land projects. Assures that projects maintain compliance with federal and local laws and notifies appropriate bodies on non-conformance issues. Converses with community leaders on project sentiment and input. Architects are typically required to be licensed or registered. Licensing is based on the Landscape Architect Registration Examination sponsored by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards.
