Description:
  • Provides genetic counseling to individuals and families in specified areas of clinical genetics, such as obstetrics, pediatrics, oncology, and neurology, to help them understand and adapt to birth defects or genetic disorders by providing them with information, education, and reassurance.
  • Analyzes and interprets test results and genetic information from family histories, and identifies patients or families at risk for specific diseases, disorders, or syndromes, particularly as it applies to children.
  • Advises patients or relatives of the risks, consequences, and nature of inherited disorders and diseases, the probability of developing or transmitting them, recurrence risks, and the options open to them in management and family planning.
