  • Provides counseling, group support therapy, and follow-up services to bereaved survivors: Contacts survivor to schedule home visit to evaluate survivor's need for counseling or other grief support services.
  • Advises survivor and provides information about community and spiritual resources, available publications, financial counseling, and other services to aid survivor in coping with death loss.
  • Counsels survivor, individually or in group setting, applying therapeutic and evaluative techniques to resolve or mitigate survivor's feelings of grief, depression, anger, loneliness, or sorrow.
  • Attends classes, seminars, workshops, and professional meetings, and reads grief-related publications to develop new grief therapy techniques and improve counseling skills.
  • Conducts group training sessions to explain and present therapeutic methodology and grief support material to community, clergy, hospices, hospitals, and schools.
  • Schedules guest speakers to lecture at group training sessions to broaden knowledge of methods of accepting grief reactions caused by disasters and deaths occurring under traumatic circumstances, such as suicide, murder, and accidents. |May train workers in bereavement techniques. |May record statistical data and follow-up schedule to monitor survivor's healing progress, using computer. |May arrange casket, chairs, and floral bouquets in funeral parlor, and greet and direct mourners at funeral service.
