Sample business functions include wholesale distribution of aluminum bars, rods, ingots, sheets, pipes and plates, anode metal, bale ties and wire, metal bars, iron and steel bearing piles, black plate, rough iron and steel castings, concrete reinforcing bars, copper sheets, plates, bars, rods and pipes, and ferroalloys.

Establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of coal and coke, metallic ores such as copper, iron, lead, and precious metal ores, as well as crude nonmetallic minerals and concentrates, excluding crude petroleum. This industry does not include establishments primarily engaged in the wholesale distribution of nonmetallic minerals used in construction, such as sand and gravel. Sample business functions include wholesale distribution of coal, coke, copper ore, gold ore, iron ore, lead ore, metallic concentrates, metallic ores, nonmetallic minerals and concentrates (excluding construction materials), and silver ore.
