  • Tends machine that washes and dries twine: turns valve to admit soap solution to starch pots (tanks) of machine and to admit steam to drying cylinder.
  • Creels machine with bobbins of twine and threads twine through starch pots and drying cylinder.
  • Attaches ends of twine to takeup bobbins.
  • Starts machine and observes movement of twine through machine and onto takeup bobbins to detect malfunctions, such as tangles and breaks.
  • Doffs bobbins of cleaned twine.
  • Scrapes accumulations of dried soap from machine.
