  • Directs, captains, and commands the efforts, activities, and initiatives of the police department and ensures that police efforts contribute towards the safety and wellbeing of communities.

  • Manages, schedules, and dispatches police officers and other police personnel to ensure adequate staffing in case of emergencies.
  • Engages and communicates with the community through public, press and media releases.
  • Attends events and builds rapport and trust with community leaders to determine the needs and concerns of individual members.
  • Studies crime reports and other data points to identify rising crime trends and areas of increasing crime.
  • Liaises with external agencies and units to coordinate or respond to requests for policing at city events, large private events and gatherings.
  • Notifies neighboring departments of fleeing criminals.
