  • Designs and plans the development of land for parks, recreational and industrial facilities, airports, hospitals, schools, subdivisions, and commercial sites.
  • Confers with clients, engineering personnel, and architects on land planning activities.
  • Collects and analyzes environmental data such as land features and the location of structures on land for commercial, industrial, or civil use.
  • Prepares and presents environmental impact reports and land development plans.
  • Assists with the development and design of policy and project recommendations.
  • Contributes to the development of the project description and obtains permits and clearances for land projects.
  • Assures that projects maintain compliance with federal and local laws and notifies appropriate bodies on non-conformance issues.
  • Converses with community leaders on project sentiment and input.
  • Architects are typically required to be licensed or registered.
  • Licensing is based on the Landscape Architect Registration Examination sponsored by the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards.
