  • Collects and preserves physical evidence from fire scenes, such as debris samples, photographs, and witness statements and adheres to the chain of custody.
  • Interviews witnesses, property owners, and other individuals to gather information about the incident.
  • Provides expert analysis to support fire prevention and law enforcement efforts.
  • Utilizes specialized knowledge of fire science, including fire behavior and combustion principles, and analyzes fire patterns, burn patterns, and the presence of accelerants.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement agencies, police investigators, arson units, insurance companies, and legal representatives to coordinate joint investigations into suspicious fires.
  • Prepares investigation reports summarizing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Testifies in court or at legal proceedings regarding investigation findings and expert analysis.
  • Guides and supports fire department personnel on fire investigation techniques and procedures.
  • Conducts fire prevention education programs and workshops for the public and community organizations.
