  • Operates and navigates a fire engine through traffic and various road conditions to reach the dispatched location.
  • Follows traffic laws and safe driving practices to protect the public, crew, and equipment.
  • Assists with protecting the lives, property, and community from fire hazards and helps with other emergency incidents.
  • Responds to fire alarms and emergency calls.
  • Understands the mechanics of fire apparatus.
  • Uses the fire engine's pumps, hoses, and other equipment to combat fires and other emergencies.
  • Conducts fire engine and equipment inspections and ensures they function at operational standards.
  • Performs routine maintenance tasks, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and refueling, and confirms the fire engine's readiness.
  • Works with fire department team members and communicates with team members, incident commanders, and dispatchers to coordinate emergency response actions.
  • Participates in training programs and drills to enhance firefighting and driving skills, technological knowledge, and understanding of municipal policies.
  • Records emergency responses, maintenance activities, and equipment checks.
