Description:
- Assesses and gives patient treatment, management, and preventive care to patients with cardiopulmonary problems.
- Assumes primary responsibility, practicing under the direction of a Supervisor and/or Physician, for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians.
- Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases, and reviews patient information to assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment, such as type and duration of therapy, and medication and dosages.
- Requires NBRC certification.
