Definition:Salary Surveys are tools used to determine the average compensation paid to employees in one or more specific jobs. This compensation data, collected from several employers, is analyzed to develop an understanding of the amount of compensation being paid. Salary surveys are used by organizations to determine what the 'market rate' is for jobs or skills used in their organization. Paying a competitive wage is important for attracting and maintaining an adequate workforce.
