  • Maintains and ensures the chain of custody of evidence and documents all incoming evidentiary items.
  • Stores and preserves physical evidence in designated locations.
  • Understands and adheres to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Uses computer programs to create and maintain a digital evidence database, including descriptions, photographs, and case information.
  • Tracks the movement of evidence materials from intake to release and records and updates the status of evidence.
  • Facilitates the retrieval and release of evidence to authorized personnel, such as law enforcement officers, detectives, and prosecutors.
  • Coordinates the disposal or destruction of evidence in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Conducts evidence storage area audits to verify records' accuracy and completeness and the items' physical presence.
  • Assists law enforcement officers and legal staff in accessing and retrieving evidence needed for investigations, court proceedings, or other official purposes.
  • Prepares evidence for court presentations.
  • Enters and updates case information, evidence details, and related data into the evidence management system.
  • Generates reports and maintains documentation related to evidence activities and case handling.
