  • Controls the operational activities of an airport including personnel, passengers, airlines, vendors, and visitors.
  • Conducts inspection of airport grounds, runways, ramps, taxiways, gates, security system components, and all other airport facility areas.
  • Performs surveys of wildlife areas to prevent fauna from interfering in airport operations.
  • Ensures that planes can safely take off and land in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration regulations.
  • Oversees air traffic in the area and tracks the location of planes.
  • Verifies that aircraft are within weight limit before takeoff and issues clearance for aircraft to take off and land.
  • Leads meetings discussing airport operations, issues, and initiatives.
  • Writes tenant agreements and contracts.
  • Converses with engineers and oversees construction and renovation of airport facilities.
  • Creates and implements emergency response plans.
  • Coordinates with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies where needed.
