Job Summary

  • Cuts out and applies sun-blocking film on windows of vehicles or buildings, using handtools and applying knowledge of installation techniques: Confers with customer to determine number and condition of windows to be covered and amount of tint desired and to provide cost estimate, using calculator, pricing manuals, and knowledge of laws which specify amount of tint that may be applied to vehicle windows.
  • Spreads drop cloths over upholstery and furniture to protect them during window cleaning and film installation.
  • Prepares windows, using cleaning chemicals dispersed from hand-held squeeze bottle or hose connected to spray tank and handtools, such as razor blades, squeegees, and sponges.
  • Measures window and cuts film from roll, using tape measure, marking pencil, and trim knife.
  • Measures, marks, and removes sections from film to allow for antennae, hinges, and curvature of windshield.
  • Sprays mixture of adhesive and lubricants to film and window.
  • Applies and adjusts film to fit window, using fingers.
  • Removes air bubbles and excess chemicals from center to edge of window, using sweeping motions with squeegee or roller.
  • Trims excess film from edges and corners, using trim knife, and smoothes film around edge of window with squeegee.
  • May move and position ladders and scaffolding to reach external windows of buildings.
  • May clean both sides of windows to ensure that surface of side to be covered is free of matter that would impede adherence of film to surface.
