Description:
  • Develops and designs open pit and underground mines, oversees construction of mine shafts and tunnels in underground operations, and devises methods for transporting minerals to processing plants.
  • Finds, extracts, and prepares coal, metals, and minerals.
  • Works to solve problems related to land reclamation and water and air pollution.
  • Responsible for the safe, economical, and environmentally sound operation of mines.
  • Ensures the safety of workers and compliance with State and Federal safety regulations.
  • Inspects walls and roof surfaces, tests air samples, and examines mining equipment for compliance with safety practices.
  • Excludes paraprofessional and supervisory positions.
