  • Receives and investigates discrimination complaints from community members, employees, or contractors regarding violations of human rights laws or unfair treatment based on protected characteristics.
  • Facilitates the resolution of complaints through mediation, education, or referrals to agencies.
  • Creates and implements educational programs, workshops, and initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Provides resources and information to members on human rights laws and resources.
  • Reviews existing policies and practices to ensure compliance with human rights laws and equitable treatment of all residents.
  • Recommends policy changes to enhance inclusivity and address potential bias.
  • Assists in mediating conflicts and disputes between individuals or groups to promote understanding and reconciliation.
  • Conducts cultural competency training to enhance awareness and understanding of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Examines data and trends related to human relations issues and provides reports to officials.
  • Uses data to identify areas for improvement and guide advocacy efforts.
  • Partners with other departments, organizations, government agencies, and human rights commissions to address human relations concerns and promote social justice initiatives.
