Job Description:
Supervises and coordinates activities of telephone workers engaged in construction, removal, and rearrangement of open-wire and carrier cable communication equipment. A combination of over two years of directly related training and/or experience is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job. This position typically reports to a manager and is the first level of supervision in the organization.: Examines work order and wiring diagrams to determine installation or repair procedures. Inspects connections, fittings, and installed wire and cable sections for conformance to specifications. Studies schedules and estimates time, cost, and labor estimates for products, services, and/or completion of job assignments. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities, such as preparation of records of expenditures, progress reports, etc., in order to inform management of current status or work activities. Analyzes department budget to identify budget needs and/or reductions, and may allocate operating budgets funds. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices. May recruit, hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or initiate promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. Performs other supervisory duties.
