Job Description:
Compiles, dispenses, and files news stories and related copy to assist personnel in newsroom. Obtains news story information and articles related to weather, traffic, sports information, and other news information through contacts with governmental agencies, sports facilities, radio, television, and other news sources. A combination of one to three months of directly related training and/or experience is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job.: Files and retrieves news scripts, printouts, and recording tapes. May contact people involved in news events to obtain further information or to arrange for background interviews by news personnel. May perform filing, typing, data entry, photo copying, proofreading, answering telephones, delivering messages, and other related clerical duties. May make written copies of news stories called in from remote locations. May record, edit, and play back tapes of news stories to assist Columnist/Commentator, using recording and editing equipment. hide...show full description
