Job Description:
Supervises employees engaged in mailroom activities and support. Coordinates activities of employees who open, sort, and route mail, and prepare outgoing material for mailing. Studies schedules and estimates time, cost, and labor for completion of job assignments. A combination of over one year of directly related training and/or experience is typically required for carrying out the responsibilities for this job. This is a first line supervisory position.: Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring work activities in order to be informed of current status or work activities. Interprets company policy to employees and enforces company policy and practices. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet department deadlines. Reads letters and determines department or official for whom mail is intended and informs mail clerk of routing. Computes amount of postage required for outgoing mail according to weight and classification. Computes cost of mail permits from postage meter readings. May recruit hire, train staff, evaluate employee performance, and recommend or promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action. May maintain personnel records. hide...show full description
