Job Description:
Collects and assists in evaluation of data obtained in testing petroleum fuels and lubricants under simulated operating conditions. Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory instruments, monitors experiments, makes observations, calculates and records results, and develops conclusions. Uses principles and theories of science and mathematics to solve problems in research and development, and helps invent and improve products and processes. Work is more practically oriented than scientists. Typically requires one to two years of specialized training in applied science or science-related technology.: Inspects engines after test runs have been made for wear, deposits, and defective parts, using microscope and precision weighing and measuring devices to obtain accurate data.
