The following instructions describe how to save user-defined information when deleting or re-installing ERI Assessors.
If you need to completely uninstall and reinstall ERI Assessors, you will lose your settings for user-defined information unless you save the files. NOTE: Regular updates will keep the settings.
They are only lost if you completely re-install. This might happen in these situations:
| • | Re-imaged or re-formatted hard drive |
| • | License transferred to new user |
| • | Windows Operating System update (not likely, but has happened) |
The files that are user defined and the Assessors that use them are described below:
| • | Geographical averages - SA, GA, RA, XA, CA |
| • | Report personalization - All Assessors |
| • | Individual Report Settings - SA, XA, CA |
| • | Comparison lists of Jobs or Cities - SA, GA, RA, XA, CA |
When these files are saved, they default to the folder that the application is in (i.e. Salary Assessor files should go to C:\ERI\ERISAWIN). But, they may be saved in “My Documents” or some other default folder.
Files to Look for and Save
Below is a list of file extensions for each Assessor product. These files should be saved in another location so that you do not have to recreate their user-defined information.
GA - .usr , .prf , .tbl
RA - .usr , .pdf , .rla
SA - .usr , .prf , .sal
XA - .usr , .prf , .xca
CA - .prf, .cca
eDOT - .prf , .edt , EdotFilters.dat
You may want to create a folder in “My Documents” folder or, as seen below, in your C: drive for ERI user-defined files. Then you will always have it available even after a complete re-installation of ERI software.
