QUESTION:  When I try to exit the Platform Library®, I receive a string of errors.  Why did this happen?

For example, if you are using Windows 2000, the error messages you receive may include:

"There is no disk in the drive.  Please insert a disk into drive ..."

"The instruction at...referenced memory at...The memory could not be read."

"Runtime error 216 at..."

Using Windows 98, you may see the DOS blue screen and messages similar to the following:

"Error Reading DVD in Drive E:"

"Please Insert DVD with serial number…"

Most likely, you installed one or more of ERI's software applications to your computer's hard drive using the Platform Library DVD.  After installation, you removed the DVD from your computer's DVD drive, without first closing the Platform Library window.

Please note:  ERI no longer supports use of any ERI or PAQ software product on a computer using the Windows 98 operating system, as of January 1, 2005, or Windows NT or ME, as of July 1, 2007.  While most of ERI's applications should continue to function properly in a Windows 98, NT or ME environment, ERI makes no guarantee that all functions of all applications will work properly or without error in these settings.

Please be aware that immediately after you have installed any of ERI's applications to your hard drive using the latest DVD, the Platform Library®  window that remains open is still being generated by the DVD (that you just installed from), and not your hard drive. This is true even if you just installed the Platform Library.

Therefore, after installation has completed, DO NOT remove the DVD from the DVD drive until you have exited the Platform Library. Otherwise, errors will most likely occur.

To get rid of the error messages, re-insert the DVD into your computer's DVD drive, wait a few seconds, and then click "Cancel" or "OK" and/or follow the instructions as they appear on your screen.

If you do not re-insert the DVD, you will most likely need to re-boot your system using Ctrl+Alt+Del.

(Remember: The Platform Library can be run from both the DVD or from files installed to your computer's hard drive.)
