Job Summary

Description:
  • Inspects and monitors functions of railroad track and structures in an assigned territory to ensure compliance with Federal safety and health regulations.
  • Creates and leads implementation of an inspection program to provide the greatest coverage of the railroad track network.
  • Operates a track geometry car (automated track inspection vehicle) that measures position, curvature, alignment of the track, smoothness, and the cross-level of the two rails; and detects, locates, and evaluates deviations.
  • Performs on-ground inspections of defects to determine the how serious the problems are, and determines the best way to correct them.
  • Communicates track conditions to appropriate management so repairs can be scheduled.
