Description:
  • Manages, encourages, and supports the development, disclosure, and protection of and issues relating to the organization's intellectual property (scientific and other discoveries, creations, and inventions) by providing professional support in the identification, patenting, licensing, marketing, and reporting of the intellectual property.
  • Advises and educates appropriate personnel regarding relevant intellectual property issues, including developing and interpreting policy.
  • Identifies, assesses, and protects intellectual property and technology with commercial applications, including those that may become new companies, evaluates commercial potential of inventions, and recommends whether intellectual property protection should be sought.
