Description:
  • Gives nutritional and vitamin-related prescription drugs and medications to patients, and prepares and blends special intravenous solutions.
  • Performs hyperalimentation on patients with health problems that prevent them from absorbing enough nutrients through their stomachs.
  • Inserts a special intravenous or IV line through the chest and threads the line into one of the large veins that lie close to the heart.
  • Counsels patients and family on use of various medications including dosage, side effects, and composition.
