  • Answers radio calls from arriving and departing aircraft, and gives pilots landing, taxiing, and take-off instructions and information, such as traffic clearances, runway to use, weather and wind velocity and direction, visibility, and pertinent data on other aircraft operating in vicinity.
  • Interacts with weather service, air route traffic control en route centers, flight service stations, aircraft pilots, and other sources to acquire necessary information to determine what information to give to incoming and outgoing pilots.
