In an earlier post we looked at salary trends for executive jobs from our 2016 Salary Survey participation. In continuing our year-to-year comparison of survey results for major benchmark jobs, we next take a look at Administrative positions.

This analysis compares salaries from participant submissions to ERI Salary Surveys between 2015 and 2016 for both nonprofit and for-profit reports. For each year, total averages were calculated by job title and included all industries and geographic areas to maximize sample size.

As you can see in the table below, organizations reported higher salaries in 2016 for seven of the twelve administrative titles. Four titles remained relatively unchanged, while one title had a slight decrease from the prior year.

Sample sizes for administrative positions are often among the highest for survey participation, and 2016 was no exception with over 6,600 incumbents comprising the above data. When examining salary data for an administrative job family, it is wise to take caution when looking at percentages. Due to the salary level of many of these positions, small changes in salary result in higher percentage changes than for jobs at higher pay levels.
