QUESTION: When I try to run the Platform Library® CD-ROM I get the error message: "An I/O error occurred while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file."
This error will occur if you have Norton Anti-Virus 4.0 with auto protection enabled at start-up. You will need to do one of two things:
| 1. | Update to Norton Anti-Virus 5.0; OR |
| 2. | Temporarily disable Norton Anti-Virus 4.0, install the Assessor Series® software databases, then re-enable Norton Anti-Virus. |
To Disable Norton Anti-Virus 4.0:
| 1. | On your Windows task bar (near the time) you should see a set of small icons. One of these icons is for Norton Anti-Virus. With your mouse, move your cursor over these icons until the label Norton Anti-Virus Auto Protection Enabled is displayed. Double-click this icon. |
| 3. | Select the Auto-Protect tab. |
| 4. | Un-check Load Auto Protect at Start-Up. Click OK. |
| 5. | Re-boot your PC. As your PC is rebooting, watch and make sure that Norton Anti-Virus 4.0 does not automatically load. If it auto-loads, follow instructions 1-4 again. If it does not auto-load, try to run the latest Platform Library CD-ROM. |
To Enable Norton Anti-Virus 4.0:
Select Start | Programs and then the appropriate Norton Anti-Virus program. Reinitiate auto load at start up by checking the appropriate option.
